Mia just wants her daughter to listen without talking back. Dailyn just wants her mom to quit being so judgemental. And they both just want everything to be perfect for when older sister Alex comes home for her birthday. But when a mysterious visitor from a digital dimension arrives on Mia’s doorstep, the very concepts of home and perfection are challenged.

Reality and social media blur together in the newest play from Boston’s own master playwright Kirsten Greenidge. An eccentric reflection of post-pandemic life, Morning, Noon, and Night navigates familial reckoning, digital surveillance, and the ways we can love each other after four long and traumatic years.

We know it can be difficult to make connections in this “post-pandemic” era, so we’re inviting people of all ages to join us for an afternoon of conversation and community. Meet someone new, deepen your connection to a friend, or just practice your offline social skills in a warm, low-stakes environment. Coffee, snacks, and conversational prompts will be provided, and our ground rules will ensure you feel comfortable sharing as much about yourself as you’d like. Join solo or bring a friend!

Hoops Workshop Reading

Join us at Boston Playwrights’ Theatre on Tuesday, May 21 at 7pm for a workshop reading of Hoops, a new play by Eliana Pipes! Based on a series of intimate interviews, this vibrant collage of self-adornment is a joyous celebration of hoop earrings in Black, Latine, and Indigenous cultures.

This workshop reading is directed by Tonasia Jones with dramaturgy by afrikah selah, and is produced by Boston Playwrights’ Theatre in partnership with Company One Theatre. Hoops will make it’s Boston Premiere with Company One Theatre this summer at the Strand Theatre.

Our Season 25 Volt Lab cohort has been hard at work creating collaborative new plays in progress that reimagine and build bridges across civic issues, community, and the stage. After the performances, attendees are invited to stick around for a reception to meet the cohort and learn what’s next for these artists and Boston’s theatre scene as a whole.

Company One Theatre Awarded $1.25 million from City of Boston & Andrew W. Mellon Foundation to flip the script on how Boston sees theatre

Company One Theatre (C1) has been awarded $1.25 million through two major grants to support its theatre as Public Art for Public Good initiative. Investment from the City of Boston’s Mayor’s Office of Arts and Culture, the Boston Public Library, and the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation has ensured that in C1’s 25th season of producing unmissable theatrical events, the catalytic company will continue serving the city’s youngest and most diverse theatre audience with free performances and programs for years to come.
